"The design process often begins with a client's commission for a specific space and function. Vesna has designed desks and bookshelves painted with Pompeii-like frescoes; console tables supported by wildly colored musical instruments; a double-sided CD tower on wheels; mirrors painted with landscapes; and, as a nod to technology, a "WWW" that supports a map of the world on three steel W's. She has also painted guitars, a piano, a Harley motorcycle, and television sets, all in keeping with her preference for working with three-dimensional functional objects.""Vesna collaborates with artist/woodworker Terry Church, who builds the furniture she designs. His vast experience in cabinetry helps shape the development of each piece. Once constructed, Vesna then paints the furniture with oil-based paints. She finishes each piece with a tough floor finish to ensure practical use."" Vesna's lifelong study of color is well expressed in her furniture designs. She exhibits her art furniture throughout California and in out-of-state galleries. Vesna owned and curated Wild Blue Craft Gallery in Los Angeles, California for twelve years. In 1992, she moved to Healdsburg in Northern California where she produces art fulltime." » original news

ABOUT THE ARTIST:Lilly G. Willis is American Russian-born artist. She discovered her passion for art and began painting at the early age of two. Lilly graduated from the Art College of Kemerovo, Russia in 1992. Then she studied drawing and painting in Repin Institute of Academy of Arts, Saint-Petersburg, Russia. Since 2002 Lilly works in her Art Studio in Palo Alto, California. Her work is in private collections in USA, Germany, England, Russia, Moldova, and Czechoslovakia. The expressed spirituality, formation and unique style of painting define the individuality of her art. The symbolism conveyed through her paintings embodies life beyond realistic imagination creating visual spiritual images from the inner depths of creativity. In addition, Lilly has developed a special technique, to make painting look like stonework. She uses acrylic paint on a wooden box and cover it with thick even layer of "liquid glass". This colorless durable plastic finish not only protects the paint, it makes colors more vivid. Each painting has wooden sides about 3Â" deep, specifically matched in color to the painting. Her style is unlike any other artist and can be distinctly recognized.ARTIST'S STATEMENT:I believe I was put on Earth for one reason - to create.Gleaning inspiration from Art Nouveau artists: Gustav Klimt, Mikhail Vrubel, Hector Guimard, Franz von Stuck, Louis Anquetin, Edouard Vuillard, Xavier Mellery, Fernand Khnopff, Giovanni Segantini and Ferdinand Hodler. The symbols that I employ are universal as well as personal, subjective ones. Whether it is a tree reaching toward the heavens, a floating vessel, or even an abstract sculptural shape materializing from the background, my images convey Nature's regenerative possibilities and its eternal capacity for change. In all of my paintings, vertical positioning and the appearance of objects in groups of three carry symbolic meaning as well and suggest a cosmic infinity and sacred geometry. The emerging and dissolving shapes in stalactite like depths stir up complex associations in viewer's minds, sensual, psychic and spiritual. The mystery of my images is further accentuated by inner luminosity, the reflection of light arising from within the painting's surfaces. My passion for exploring the mystery of Nature would not rest within the boundaries of the Earth but take my imagination to places where ordinary eyes would not see. As a result, the subjects of my artwork range from the vast depths of the oceans to the farthest reaches of our Galaxy.I believe that the expressed spirituality in my paintings can work a quiet magic on viewers by awakening their senses to the peace within themselves and their surroundings. » original news

Tony Natsoulas (born 1959), like his art, is funny, offbeat and awkwardly charming. "I just do what the little voices tell me to," reads the bumper sticker on his pick-up, a statement that seems not far from the truth. A bard, a sonneteer, and a prankster in clay, Natsoulas wants us to appreciate the humor in the banal, and to look nostalgically at some of history's self-indulgent pleasures. » original news

"This project was sculpted by Brian Goggin with Al Honig and Tom Kennedy. It is part of the San Jose Museum of Art permanent collection.""It's a pandemoniacal moment, bounding off the floor, an amiable enough, elongated, many legged, yet crapulous couch wraps its craning ends bulbous pillows around an under stuffed rather intellectual reading chair. Not for osculation, but for silencing consumption. An armor of orange upholstery stretches tight, seams strained, over previously pillow-gummed furniture, constrained inside the padded peptic tract but not yet dissolved, a table, a television, a lamp, and a telephone, thrust their extremities out, unlikely tent poles making fabric braille, caught in the couches duodenum. Black belly arching, red legs clambering, it peers your way." » original news
